Founded in 1916, Keith School is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory school serving students from age 3 through grade 12 from Rockford and surrounding communities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Concerned with educating the whole child, Keith is dedicated to a philosophy that emphasizes excellence in academic skills, small classes and personal attention, and opportunities for individual growth. Its teachers recognize that learning is an active, creative experience in which students engage the world with open, inquiring minds. Keith is committed to developing character and leadership and an appreciation for diversity. With 100 percent college placement, Keith’s curriculum offers a wide range of advanced-placement courses. Foreign language instruction begins at age 3, and interscholastic sports teams begin at grade five. Students of all ages have opportunities to excel in theater, vocal and instrumental music, and the visual arts. Community service is a requirement for graduation. Keith School integrates technology with the curriculum to enrich and redefine the learning environment. In 1998, Keith became the first school in Illinois to provide laptop computers for all sixth- through 12th-grade students and teachers, along with school-wide access to the Internet and an advanced Intranet. Situated on a 15-acre campus overlooking the Rock River, the school
has three classroom buildings, two playgrounds and playing fields.
Upper School and Intermediate buildings feature special classrooms
for science,music, art and computers. The Rhea Primary Building
