Whether they are walking the trails of the forested
campus, performing madrigals, presenting Spanish dialogues, or simply
playing with friends on the playground, students at Fox
River Country Day School experience an atmosphere that encourages
discovery and excellence. Founded in 1913, Fox River is an independent,
fully accredited, coeducational day and boarding school serving
students from preschool through eighth grade. Located on 53 acres
of rolling hills and field oaks, our country campus is a haven of
learning and growing, just 35 miles northwest of Chicago's Loop.
Our mission is to educate the whole child through
a values-based program, emphasizing academics, enrichment, ethics
and community. The academic program at Fox River promotes personal
achievement and is as rich and varied as it is challenging, thus
preparing students for a college preparatory curriculum in secondary
school.
In addition to the traditional subject areas, the
school offers enrichment activities that include environmental education,
art, music, Spanish, swimming, and computer training.
The framework for our values-based program is a
set of character building qualities that are highlighted throughout
the school community. Since our earliest days, the schools philosophy
has fostered personal growth, respect, and a love of learning. Faculty
and staff strive to bring out the unlimited potential of each student
and encourage them to recognize this ability in each other.
Small class sizes enable students to receive individual
attention. Professional development affords teachers opportunities
to be abreast of new methods and resources in order to integrate
them into their curriculum. The faculty, together with students
and dedicated parents, create a sense of community where it is safe
to grow, to be challenged, and to discover the joy of learning.
