Founded in 1974, The
Willows Academy is an independent college preparatory
school that empowers young women to strive for academic and moral
excellence and a lifelong commitment to service based on the teaching
of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei.
The Willows Academy embodies all
that a college preparatory environment should be: an atmosphere
rich with academic excellence and personal attention to each student
while emphasizing sound moral formation in the Roman Catholic tradition.
The challenging college-preparatory curriculum follows
a classical liberal arts orientation and meets the academic entrance
requirements of all major universities.
To help parents guide the growth and develop of
their adolescent daughter, each student at The Willows Academy is
assigned an advisor with whom she meets individually. The advisor
helps the student grow in her knowledge of herself, her place in
the world and her responsibility to become whomever God intends.
At the Willows, learning does not only happen in
the classroom, but in every aspect of life. The Willows stresses
the importance of leadership, participation in cocurricular activities
and a commitment to moral excellence. At the Willows, young women
encourage each other to explore their interests and to take advantage
of the wide variety of opportunities for leadership and participation
in athletics, the visual and performing arts, technology and communication,
service and civic involvement and governance.
The Willows Academy is located on a two-acre campus
with nearby parks and recreational facilities in a suburban setting
25 minutes northwest of downtown Chicago. Similar to its brother
school, Northridge Prep, it provides a variety of athletics and
extracurricular activities and attracts an ethnically diverse student
body from more than 40 Chicago-area communities.
