Since its establishment in 1992, Science & Arts Academy has provided intellectually gifted and creatively talented children an opportunity to reach above and beyond standard expectations.

Our students know each day will bring exciting, fun and challenging learning opportunities in an environment where they can learn and achieve at their personal level. SAA students are inspired and encouraged daily by an enthusiastic and caring faculty, as well as their fellow students.

The learning process here is an active one. While our teachers are the facilitators, it's definitely our students who are the driving force. Our small class and group sizes give students the opportunity for more in-depth interaction, cooperation, creativity and dialogue.

Curriculum is designed for ages 3 through 14. We do not limit curriculum level to age determined grade levels; rather, as the student progresses, curriculum levels will vary across subject areas, including senior high school coursework. The teaching methodology at SAA places heavy emphasis on higher cognitive processes, creative thinking, inquiry and discovery strategies, problem solving, and rapid pacing.

Our new school building, opened in September 2007, provides space for over 300 students.

The Academy is located just east of downtown Des Plaines, accessible to the I-294 expressway, and draws students from throughout the Chicago metropolitan and suburban areas.
