Established in 1965, Chiaravalle is one of fewer than 100 schools nationwide to be fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and is the only such school in the Chicago area also fully accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States.

Chiaravalle’s carefully designed classroom environments encourage children of mixed age groups to work together or individually with multi-sensory materials that invite them to touch, think, and experience. Children develop not only a desire to learn but a responsibility for their own learning as well as independence, a sense of order, and self-control.

Elementary students benefit from Montessori’s unique approach to math and language arts and from an extensive cultural curriculum that includes geography, botany, zoology, and history. The Elementary and Middle School curriculum is supplemented by a variety of subjects, including Spanish, art, performing arts, and physical education. The Middle School’s integrated curriculum provides large blocks of work time that allow in-depth and advanced research and a variety of community outreach opportunities.
