Morgan Park Academy is an independent, co-educational, college-preparatory day school with a lively, multicultural, socioeconomic mixture of students. While many come from the Beverly-Morgan Park residential area of Chicago, more than one-half commute from suburban areas and northwest Indiana.
The curriculum provides a challenging and stimulating traditional
liberal arts program designed for average to superior students.
with both honors and advanced-placement courses offered in the advanced
grades. Academic instruction begins in preschool with foreign languages,
art, music, computers, and physical education taught by specialists.
Because of an overall teacher-student ratio of 1 to 10 and a class
size that rarely exceeds 18, each child is assured caring, personalized
attention. One hundred percent of Morgan Park Academy graduates
go on to college.
A diverse, highly motivated faculty under the leadership of department chairs implements a sequential and integrated curriculum that will stimulate and encourage students to develop their particular talents and potential; become leaders who can meet the demands of an ever-changing international environment; learn to assume responsibility for their own actions; and develop ethical standards of behavior. All of this occurs within a family-oriented environment.
Founded in 1873, the Academy is situated on a beautifully landscaped
20-acre college-like campus that includes four major classroom buildings
with an interactive foreign language lab and technology center with
state-of -the-art, high speed computers and SMARTboard; a newly
renovated, physical education building with several gymnasiums and
multipurpose rooms; outdoor playing fields and a tennis court; Art
Center with an auditorium, gallery, fine-arts classrooms and Mac
lab; Alumni Hall, which houses a dining hall and library/media center;
and Jones Bowl, a grassy area with a playground for younger students.
